Hi everyone,
Great class today! I’m very excited to see your blogs coming along so nicely. Here’s a brief refresher of what we did with WordPress today after break:
- You can log into your blog by visiting it and clicking on the “Login” link. If you can’t find the “Login” link you can always add “/wp-login.php” after your blog address (example: “http://heidi.connectspace.org/wp-login.php”)
- Once inside your blog you can click on the “Design” tab to select a new graphic design scheme for your site.
- The “Write” tab allows you to create new Posts and Pages. Posts are like journal entries and appear on the main page of your blog in reverse chronological order. Pages are more permanant than posts, and appear as links from part of your site. They usually appear as buttons or tabs along the top or side of the screen.
- The “Manage” tab allows you to make changes to any Posts or Pages that you have created.
- “Publishing” a post or page will make it visible to others immediately. “Saving” and not publishing a post or page will save your changes but will not make the content visible to people who view your site. You can always change the publish status by using the “Manage” tab and clicking on a post or page.
- When working with a post or page you can use the “Password Protection” feature to force people to enter a password before they can access your content.
- You can use the “Add media” feature when working with a post or page to include images, videos and any other types of documents (such as Word or PDF files)
